Genghis Khan Motorcycle Trail

6 - 14 JULY 2019 and 19 - 26 JULY 2019 (spaces available) only USD $2395

Genghis Khan was born in Dadal near to the Siberian border in the north east corner of Mongolia. This is a beautiful area of mountains, forest, lakes and wide rivers. It is also of immense historical significance and we will visit the places where Genghis Khan lived until he became leader of his people and moved his capital to Kharkhorin in Central Mongolia.

Please note that nowadays there are a few competitor motorcycle companies offering the same or similar tours. Some have copied our "Genghis Khan Motorcycle Trail" and website content, given it a new name and advertised it as their own tour, at a cheaper price, perhaps without having tried and tested the route.

Riding Terrain and Facilities on this Trip

Some riding on the first and last days of the trip are on a new black topped road, but for the rest of the tour we follow rough jeep tracks on packed mud or rock. The 1200 km ride from Ulaanbaatar to the small village of Dadal is an experience of wilderness and culture that would be hard to beat elsewhere. There may be some river crossings (depends on recent weather conditions), although we travel out of our way to find bridges to cross the big rivers. All nights on tour are spent in the wild, camping in tents.

Comparing Different tour companies ?

If you are comparing different tour companies and trying to decide which is the best, you must ask the following questions: Who owns and maintains the motorbikes ? Will everyone ride the same model of bike ? Will an experienced mechanic travel with the group ? What kind of spare parts and equipment do they have ? Have they done the route before as a motorcycle tour ? What kind of support vehicles will go with the group ? When you have asked all these questions, you will be in a good position to compare the prices of different companies.
